FAQs about the Deutschland-Ticket
In which transportation modes is the Deutschland-Ticket valid?
The Deutschland-Ticket is valid on the following modes of transportation:
- All local trains of all railway companies (e.g., RE, RB, S-Bahn)
- All public transport within a network (U-Bahn, trams, buses)
- Almost all local buses in Germany
Please note that the Deutschland-Ticket is not valid on long-distance trains of DB (IC, EC, ICE) and also not for travel to the Czech Republic.
How can I cancel my Deutschland-Ticket subscription?
You can cancel the Deutschland-Ticket subscription by the 10th of a month for the end of that month.
Ways to cancel:
- Use the subscription portal of DB.
- Use the "Cancel subscription" function in the DB Navigator below your mobile ticket.
- Alternatively: Use the cancellation form of DB.
If you subscribed to the Deutschland-Ticket via the NETINERA-Tickets app, please contact our customer center via our contact form.
Can I exchange or get a refund for the Deutschland-Ticket?
Yes, you can exchange or get a refund for the Deutschland-Ticket free of charge before the first day of validity. After that, exchanges or refunds are not possible.
Can I travel in first class with the Deutschland-Ticket?
With the Deutschland-Ticket, you can only use the 2nd class in trains. Transition to the 1st class is possible within the validity areas of transport networks, state tariffs, and the Deutschland-Tarif according to the respective fare regulations.
Is the Deutschland-Ticket transferable?
The Deutschland-Ticket is always issued as a personalized ticket and is non-transferable. As a personal travel document, it includes your first and last name and date of birth. The personalized data is readable by the barcode from the train staff and does not necessarily have to be visible on the digital ticket. During checks, you must identify yourself with an official photo ID, such as your ID card or passport.
What about children?
Children under 6 years old travel for free on public transport. Children over 6 years old need their own ticket.
Can I take my bike for free?
No. To take a bike with you on the alex, you need a bike day pass for each bike.
Exception: If your bike is folded and well packed in the luggage compartments at the seat, you can take it as free hand luggage.
Please note:
- Be considerate of other passengers.
- Check in advance for expected high bike volumes in the DB Navigator.
- Bikes can be taken if there is sufficient space and an appropriate additional ticket. Please also note that strollers and wheelchair users have priority. There is no entitlement to take a bike.
