FAQ's about the Bayern-Ticket
On which means of transport is the Bayern-Ticket valid?
The Bayern-Ticket and the Bayern-Ticket Night are valid on the following means of transport in Bavaria:
- All local trains of all railroad companies (e.g. RE, RB, private railroads)
- All means of transportation in the network (S-Bahn, U-Bahn, streetcar, bus)
- Almost all public buses in Bavaria
Please note that the Bayern-Ticket is not valid on long-distance trains (ICE, IC).
Do children travel free of charge?
Children up to and including the age of 5 are generally always allowed to travel free of charge - regardless of whether they are your own children or not. They do not have to be taken into account when calculating the number of passengers.
6-14 year olds: Up to 3 of your own or other children can travel free of charge - regardless of whether the ticket is purchased for one or more people.
Can I take my dog with me?
Yes, small dogs (up to the size of a domestic cat) can travel free of charge in the transport container - larger dogs count as passengers and are charged as an adult person.
Please note: If you are taking a paid dog with you, please enter the German term "Hund" instead of a passenger when booking.
Can I take my bike with me free of charge?
To take bicycles with you, you need one day pass per bicycle.
Exception: If your bicycle fits into the luggage racks at your seat when folded up and well packed, you can take it with you as hand luggage free of charge.
Can my passengers simply get on later?
- Yes, your Bayern-Ticket can be used as an inexpensive group ticket and your passengers can also join you en route.
- However, who and how many people are traveling with you is already determined when you purchase the ticket - it is therefore not possible to change your travel companions afterwards.
- As part of the ticket inspection, your names may be checked with a request for identification.
Can I cancel or exchange my ticket?
It is not possible to exchange or cancel your Bayern-Ticket.
An exception to this is if you are entitled to a return or exchange of your ticket on the basis of your passenger rights - for example because you expect a delay of more than 60 minutes at your destination station.
