Everything you need for your journey

Whether you're traveling on business or planning your next trip, we want to make sure you're well prepared and can enjoy your journey stress-free. From bicycle transport to information on accessibility and traveling with children - here you will find everything you need to know before your train journey. Welcome to the alex!

Travel barrier-free

To ensure a barrier-free journey, we ask passengers who require assistance with boarding and alighting to register in good time. Please contact our mobility center at least one working day in advance.

Please note: It is not possible to take electric wheelchairs on the ALX trains. Unfortunately, wheelchairs over 250 kg and 63 cm wide cannot be transported on the ALX trains. Please use the barrier-free trains of other transport companies between Regensburg and Munich.

Opening hours:
Mon - Fri 6:00 - 22:00 and Sat - Sun 8:00 - 20:00

As an alternative to contacting the MSZ in person, you can also use the barrier-free online form to register your trip, including any assistance you require.

What information is required for registration?

Please provide us with the following information for registration:

  • Name and address (e-mail if applicable)
  • Telephone number for any queries
  • Aids (type of wheelchair, weight, dimensions)
  • Day of travel, departure/arrival time or train number

What assistance is available at the stations?

To facilitate access to the alex trains, lifts or ramps are available at many local and long-distance train stations throughout Germany. In addition, staff, helpers from the station mission and other social services are available at numerous stations to support you on site.

However, as not every station can provide assistance at all times, we recommend that you contact our Mobility Service Center before your journey to find out whether boarding, alighting or transfer assistance is available at your destination station at the desired time. You can also find further information about your station in the Bahnland Bayern station database.

Is boarding the buses of the replacement service barrier-free?

Persons with reduced mobility can generally be transported. However, as it cannot be guaranteed that an appropriate bus (e.g. low-floor) will be available at the appropriate time and place without prior registration, please be sure to register your journey via the mobility center on 030 65212888 (local tariff) or via msz@deutschebahn.com.

A solution can then be find in consultation with the railroad company.

What barrier-free facilities are available at the alex?

Each alex has at least one combined 1st/2nd class carriage equipped with a mechanical folding ramp. This is easily recognizable by the wheelchair symbol on the corresponding boarding door. Our service staff are always keen to ensure that all passengers can board and alight without any problems.

Directly at the entrance, in the second-class carriage area, you will find a spacious compartment with three clearly marked seats for the severely disabled as well as two wheelchair spaces and a wheelchair-accessible WC. Our service staff ensure that these seats are available when required and are not used for other purposes.

Transport bicycle

We offer space for bicycles in our multi-purpose area. Please pay attention to the bicycle pictogram on the entrance doors and secure your bicycle with the straps provided.

Take dogs with you

Are you planning to take your dog or other pets with you on your journey? We also welcome your animal companions on our trains!

So that you and your pet can enjoy a pleasant journey, please note our guidelines on taking animals with you.

Taking dogs on the alex
  • Small dogs and other small pets (up to the size of a domestic cat) do not require a ticket if they are transported in a suitable transport box.
  • Larger dogs need their own ticket. They only pay half the fare for a standard fare ticket. With country tickets, the dog is considered a passenger and is charged as an additional person.
  • If you are taking a dog with you, enter the German term "Hund" instead of a passenger when booking.
  • Tickets are also available directly at the alex. Please contact our train attendants without being asked when boarding.
  • Out of consideration for other passengers, dogs must be kept on a lead and wear a muzzle.
  • Guide dogs for the blind and marked assistance dogs always travel free of charge and do not have to wear a muzzle on the train.
