City tours with alex to Schwandorf

Schwandorf

History, nature and culture in the heart of the Upper Palatinate

There is so much to experience in the large district town of Schwandorf! A well-known highlight is the impressive rock cellar labyrinth. But the town's 1000-year history has also left many traces that invite you to take a city tour. And last but not least, Schwandorf is the center of the Upper Palatinate Lake District.

The Summer gets musical

The courtyard in front of Schwandorf Town Hall and the Spitalkirche church becomes a meeting place for music that gets everyone going - whether soul, jazz, pop or a colorful mix of everything. Numerous open-air concerts by top-class artists will once again take place as part of the "Kultursommer im Spitalgarten".

Rock cellar

Deep below the earth's surface is a unique attraction: Bavaria's largest rock cellar labyrinth. Originally built as a beer storage cellar, the underground rooms were later used as refrigerators and air raid shelters. Tip: If you stay overnight, you should definitely attend a concert in the adjoining Kulturkeller!

View point

The "Schwammerling" has been watching over the old town of Schwandorf for over 100 years. With its red-rimmed hat, the weather mushroom built as a shelter shines down from its hill and has always fascinated people.

Kebbelvilla

Outstanding works by international and local artists can be admired in the Kebbelvilla. The historic Wilhelminian-style building also houses the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus, which offers an exciting insight into artistic production.

Seven bridges trail

The idyllic hiking trail around Schwandorf starts at the Volksfestplatz and largely follows the leisurely course of the Naab river, which is crossed several times. There is a wonderful view and a nice café in Fronberg. You have to cross 7 bridges!

City park with boat hire

The Schwandorf city park on the Naab island is a wonderful place to relax. In addition to a fantastic playground and a picturesque beer garden, the park offers rowing and pedal boat hire in the summer months. So you can experience Schwandorf from a new perspective!

Cafe Lawendls

The name is inspired by the lavender plant, which is known for its many uses in medicine and cooking. Variety is the focus at Lawendls! The dishes are freshly and deliciously prepared with regional products. A play corner, retreat rooms and health courses make the café a colorful feel-good place.
