Schwandorf
History, nature and culture in the heart of the Upper Palatinate
There is so much to experience in the large district town of Schwandorf! A well-known highlight is the impressive rock cellar labyrinth. But the town's 1000-year history has also left many traces that invite you to take a city tour. And last but not least, Schwandorf is the center of the Upper Palatinate Lake District.
On skates into the new year
Get on the skating rink and off you go on a wild ride! If you'd rather enjoy a cup of mulled wine or other treats, you're guaranteed to find what you're looking for at the Schwandorf Winter Magic. Fancy a New Year's Eve party? The new year is welcomed here with a laser show. This Christmas market is even open until January 6.
Rock cellar
Deep below the earth's surface is a unique attraction: Bavaria's largest rock cellar labyrinth. Originally built as a beer storage cellar, the underground rooms were later used as refrigerators and air raid shelters. Tip: If you stay overnight, you should definitely attend a concert in the adjoining Kulturkeller!
Cafe Lawendls
The name is inspired by the lavender plant, which is known for its many uses in medicine and cooking. Variety is the focus at Lawendls! The dishes are freshly and deliciously prepared with regional products. A play corner, retreat rooms and health courses make the café a colorful feel-good place.
