Pilsen

Beer metropolis and former European Capital of Culture

When you think of Pilsen, you might think of beer first and yes: Pilsner Urquell is perhaps the best-known attraction, but the city has a lot more to offer. Pilsen was even named Capital of Culture in 2015 - the pretty facades and the well-kept park ring around the city center still make up part of the city's special flair today. Here are our tips for your visit to Pilsen!

Theater and the art of brewing

Theater groups from all over the world are coming to Pilsen from September 11 to 18 - and you can enjoy classical drama, music, dance, puppet and street theater and experimental plays. Several theaters are making their stages available for this purpose. But you can also get a taste of open-air theater on Republic Square.

Had enough theater? Then cheers! At the Festival of Mini Breweries on September 13 and 14 at the Purkmistr Brewery, you can sample 150 types of beer from more than 50 mini breweries - including specialty beers that are otherwise unavailable. Na zdraví!

Puppet Museum

The world of puppets comes to life here! The Marionette Museum in Pilsen displays skilfully crafted figures and tells the story of this fascinating craft, which was recently added to UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage. An exciting destination for the whole family.
